The Welcome House of Northern Kentucky is in need of volunteers to help make December more merry for families in need. This holiday season, families can “adopt-a-family” or hold an independent resource drive with friends, family and neighbors. Families can also host holiday parties for shelter residents which usually includes snacks, crafts and games! The most popular family volunteer activity is providing a meal for the 30 women and children in the Welcome House shelter. Kids love to help plan a group meal, shop for groceries and cook!
Sara Kahmann, development coordinator from Welcome House of Northern Kentucky, emphasizes why volunteering with the family is so important, “Families helping families are part of what makes Northern Kentucky such a great community! We really enjoy having volunteers of all ages involved in our mission to end homelessness!”
