Parky’s Farm: A Perfect Play Place

Sheep, pigs, donkeys, horses and more! Kids of all ages love and pet the animals at Parky’s Farm.

“Cole loves Parky’s Farm. We go all the time,” says Cole’s grandmother, Gini. “He especially enjoys watching the animals,” she adds. Parky’s Farm, located within Hamilton County Park’s Winton Woods, is home to many animals.

Visitors can pet goats and sheep and also have fun watching pigs, donkeys, horses and a llama. Chickens strut around the hen house, roosters crow and turkeys show off their dark feathers. “One day, Cole saw a cow there, and it mooed. He knew about cows mooing, and said, ‘Moo,’ but when the cow actually mooed, he was startled!” says Gini with a chuckle. There’s also a pond with ducks, geese and a working windmill, but many kids love the horses most of all.

The Winton Woods Riding Center offers horseback riding lessons for adults and children ages 7 and older. For younger riders, the center provides pony rides in the outdoor arena for $2.50.

Parky’s Playbarn also costs $2.50 per child. Inside the two-story former dairy barn, parents can relax and watch as kids climb, slide and dive into ball pits. The free, outdoor, farm-themed playground provides climbing and sliding fun.

Parky’s Playbarn offers plenty of fun programs each month for toddlers and school- age children along with their parents. This month, families can check out “A Very Fairy Home Makeover” on May 3 and 11. “Pioneer Pastimes” takes place May 6, 13, 20 and 27. RSVP is required.
