Mom Report: Lowe’s Build and Grow

Mom Reporter Tina Pratt took her gang to Lowe’s for a Build and Grow clinic, here’s what she had to say!

Lowe’s offers Build and Grow clinics FREE for kiddos!  Both of my kids (1 and 4) enjoy building wood projects, getting the apron, goggles, badge, certificate, and hammer!  I once read that the clinics were designed for ages 5 and up, but my kids have been going since 18 months.  We started by providing a lot of support and now my 4-year-old can do the projects almost all on his own.  My 1-year-old enjoys swinging the hammer … she has gotten our thumbs a few times!  Not only do they leave with some goodies, but they are also learning to follow printed directions, find the pieces they need to build, learn to use a hammer, and work on their fine motor skills.  Hopefully, my oldest will be able to help with projects around the house soon!

The projects typically follow movie releases.  This summer, the projects are inspired by “Marvel Avengers Assemble.” What kid doesn’t like the Avengers?!?!  Registration is required and most stores have 100 of each project.  Registration typically starts two weeks before the project and some stores fill up quickly.  The next project is June 27, and it is Captain America: http://www.lowesbuildandgrow.com/pages/default.aspx
