Does your daughter play sports? Tell her to keep playing! Numerous studies have shown that girls who participate in sports demonstrate higher self-confidence. But half of girls who play a sport will quit by the age of 17. Even worse, approximately seven in ten girls don’t feel encouraged by their community to play.
Last summer, P&G’s Always launched a campaign, #LikeAGirl – Keep Playing, designed to focus on the link between playing sports and confidence in young women. The campaign teamed up with Walmart for a “50 Teams, 50 States” program that provided resources to teams around the country and ideally, show young female athletes some support and encouragement.
Always and Walmart met the girls’ basketball team at Robert A. Taft High School to hear their stories and then on Nov. 11, they surprised the team with a newly renovated locker and weight room, along with some much needed equipment and apparel!
