Head over to Cottell Park (4900 Parkway Drive, Mason) on the morning of May 12 for a 5K run and one-mile walk, and enjoy trees decorated with butterflies by local schools, meet and be inspired by cancer survivors, including a seven-time teen survivor teen. The walk, which began in 2007 and now features nearly 2,000 participants, will be followed by a Survivor Ceremony and Fun Festival, including music, food, magicians and clowns, games and rides, and live animals. Funds raised will benefit CancerFree Kids, a non-profit that supports research of childhood and adult cancers. One of this year’s honorees includes 8-year-old Mary, who designed the walk’s T-shirt.
Registration begins at 8 a.m., the 5K at 9 a.m., and the walk at 10 a.m.
