Blind Boys of Alabama with special guest Shemekia Copeland

George Bizet’s opera Carmen received its premiere in Paris in March 1875. For the work’s 150th anniversary, The KSO and the School of the Arts at NKU team up for a concert presentation of opera’s greatest Femme Fatale. Nationally acclaimed vocalists Kristin Chávez (Carmen), native Northern Kentuckian Matthew Pearce (Don Jose) and Morgan Smith (Escamillo) lead the cast in this semi-staged, concert presentation of Bizet’s Carmen (sung in French with projected English supertitles) Local students and area singers fill out the cast along with NKU choirs, dancers, and youth choirs from the prep department and Ignite for two performances.
