Seven Snowy Stories
‘Tis the season for curling up by the fire and reading your family’s favorite holiday books together. Here is a list of some of our favorites. We had a very difficult time narrowing it down! We hope these books bring your family joy this season as well!
A Very Fiona Christmas-Richard Cowdrey
If you are a fan of Cincinnati’s unofficial mascot like our family is, then this is a must read. Follow Fiona on her adventure through the Cincinnati Zoo to find out what Christmas is all about.
How the Grinch Lost Christmas – Dr.Seuss
This is an adorable follow up to How the Grinch Stole Christmas. The story follows the Grinch as he tries to show the Who’s how much he’s changed since last Christmas. But is his heart in the right place?
Sesame Street: Home for the Holidays-Craig Manning
A sweet story that catches up with some of your favorite Sesame Street characters as they share the holidays they celebrate with their family and friends. This is a great book to introduce the idea of different cultural celebrations to your little ones.
A Little Spot of Giving-Diane Alber
We love that this book promotes the idea of giving during the holiday season. It covers the idea of giving versus receiving as well as non-material gift ideas such as time spent with others.
Chicka Chicka Ho Ho Ho-William Boniface
For fans of Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, the letters are back and helping decorate the tree!
What a fun, festive way to enjoy this story.
The Girl Who Saved Christmas-Matt Haig
Written by Matt Haig, known for The Midnight Library comes book two in the ‘A Boy Called Christmas’ series. For readers ages 8-12 years old this book feels like a Dickensian Christmas tale. This book follows the story of the first child to receive a Christmas present.
A Charlie Brown Christmas-Charles Schulz
This book is one that we end up reading year round because my kiddos are such big fans of the Peanuts gang. If you love the television special, this book gives you the opportunity to tie the ideas into reading time. We often discuss Linus’s monologue on stage discussing the true meaning of Christmas.
