Pyramid Hill is an art lover’s paradise, but there is something there for everyone. This 300-acre sculpture park rests near the Great Miami River in Hamilton, Ohio. The park has approximately 70 sculptures that observers can interact with through the free app Otocast. The app plays a recording of the artist talking about their sculpture. The park can be explored on foot, in a car, or it is really fun to ride around on an Art Cart, which can be rented for an hourly fee. Pyramid Hill also has a beautiful ancient sculpture museum that is included with admission to the park.
Although my small children do not fully understand art yet they loved walking up to the sculptures and touching them. The sculptures were all different shapes, sizes, and colors, which fit perfectly into the landscape of the area. The park hosts lots of green space and mature trees common to Southwest Ohio. Many animals including deer, coyote, and even wild turkeys call the park home. Besides enjoying art, a visit to Pyramid Hill provides an opportunity to relax and enjoy nature. The sculptures definitely captured my kids’ interest, but also they loved running around in all the open green space and digging in the dirt.
When planning a visit to Pyramid Hill, budget a few hours to view the sculptures and enjoy being outside. There are many areas to enjoy a picnic, including tables outside of the museum. If you don’t rent an Art Cart, there are places to park throughout Pyramid Hill as well clean restrooms. The park also hosts special events throughout the year, such as summer camps for kids, an art fair, meteor shower viewings, and the holiday light show.
