Great Parks of Hamilton County has something to offer for everyone with 21 parks and preserves spread throughout Hamilton County. If you’re looking for an easy family outing this summer, head to the parks for traditional activities including hiking, picnicking, playgrounds and even outdoor movies!
Some outings we recommend is Sharon Woods’ family-friendly 2.6-mile trail around the lake; Glenwood Gardens’ 1.6-mile wetland trail; or, why not enjoy a picnic and some playground time at Woodland Mounds along the Ohio River!
Great Parks also offers excellent camping and boat houses, and it’s all open! Winton Woods and Miami Whitewater and Lake Isabella all offer camping to top off your summer plans – they offer everything from rustic camping to RV camping to floating tents! Learn more about camping, boating and more here.
More of an recreational family? Great Parks offers bike rentals, too! Add a fun twist and rent a quad bike perfect for the family at Miami Whitewater. Likewise, you can rent row boats, kayaks, paddle boats and even swan shaped boats.
To say nonetheless, the opportunities are endless at Great Parks – from archery to disc golf, dog parks to golf, horseback riding and more, filling up your summer calendar will be a piece of cake. Not ready to explore out and about just yet? Check out their blog loaded with videos and suggested journaling activities you can do at home. The calendar is regularly updated with special events and classes.
COVID-19 has changed some events and activities (splash pads are closed this year, for example) so be sure to check their website for updates on policies and procedures. Check their website for the latest on events, park addresses and more information. Keep in mind that all parks require a daily or annual motor pass that can be purchased at the entry gate or gift shops. For Hamilton County, the motor permit is $5 dollars daily and $15 annually. For those in other counties, it is $8 daily and $16 annually.
