My daughter has been asking to try ballet for a few weeks and I have (shhhhhh!) been stalling! Honestly, she has always been a bull in a China shop, so I never really thought ballet was up her alley. I finally gave in and took her down to Cincinnati Ballet for a class.
She was excited for her pink tights and pink leotard with her delicate pink tutu. She carefully put on her ballet slippers and excitedly showed me her “moves” while she waited for her class. When her class was called, all the kiddos were amped up and excited to begin. They made the trek to their studio and Miss Donna, who by the way is FABULOUS, provided each kiddo with their own space, via visual space dot and began.
She hit play on her playlist and began instructing the kids. Immediately a calm wave spread over me and the students. It was amazing, and it was peaceful! I had my computer with me and planned on using it, but I was mesmerized by the beauty of my sweet girl in a ballet class. The bull in the China shop magically turned into a graceful tiny ballerina. Miss Donna had their undivided attention as she began to lead them through positions and other ballet moves.
They practiced ballet with and without the bar and practiced their leaps and turns. I had to do a double take a few times … is that MY girl doing those beautiful moves? I was absolutely amazed at the transformation of my daughter in just one ballet class at Cincinnati Ballet and her deeper love for ballet after just ONE class. She came home and excitedly showed her dad and brother everything she learned. She is excited to continue to learn more about ballet.
