Surprise Red Panda Baby Born at CZBG

Families visiting the Cincinnati Zoo will soon get to meet a sweet bundle of joy!

Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden zookeepers were surprised to learn Lin the red panda gave birth to a baby in July, despite having lost a baby in spring. Keepers discontinued ultrasounds after the loss and were shocked to find Lin and a healthy newborn cuddled together! Lin’s baby red panda is an exciting addition to CZBG and animalkind, as red pandas are an endangered species due to deforestation and poaching.

Lin and Baby are doing well, snuggled in a nesting box; zoo visitors can expect to see the baby outside some time next month. Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden is located at 3400 Vine Street; visit cincinnatizoo.org for more information or call 513-281-4700.
