New Members Arrive at the Cincinnati Zoo

The zoo's newest addition, Roo Valley, will soon have two new penguin chicks joining in with penguin colony for visitors to enjoy this coming spring.

Two fuzzy new members who recently joined the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical were given the honor to be named after NASA’s successful Mars landing. Meet 4-week-old little blue penguin chicks, Mars and Rover.

The spacecraft touchdown inspired the zoo’s bird team to name the chicks a little nontraditionally.

The announcement was made during the zoo’s Facebook Live Home Safari with the penguins behind the scenes in the bird house nursery. Their Home Safari winter series
began February 1 and will continue through the end of this month.

Head to the zoo this spring to see Mars and Rover when they will join the rest of the little penguins in the new Roo Valley. You can enjoy discounted admission to The Cincinnati Zoo through March 12 for Penguin Days!

The zoo is open daily beginning 10 a.m. Reservations are required and masks must be worn while visiting. For more information, visit cincinnatizoo.org.
