Spring means flowers, showers, warmer weather and harbors, boathouses and campgrounds at Great Parks, of course! Grab the family and mark these fun, recreational activities on your calendar!
Harbors
Harbors open include Miami Whitewater Forest, Sharon Woods and Winton Woods. Get the most out of Great Parks’ beautiful park lake views, playgrounds and picnic areas open daily, plus, keep a lookout for the Harbor snack bars to open in May, weekends only.
Boathouses
There’s just something about boating season, and luckily Great Parks has that, too. Boathouses at Lake Isabella, Miami Whitewater Forest, Sharon Woods and Winton Woods are open for business and fully stocked with fishing gear and bait. Rent anything from kayaks, to canoes, pedal boats, stand up paddleboards and bikes at Miami Whitewater Forest, Sharon Woods and Winton Woods. If you enjoy renting rowboats the most, Lake Isabella has it!
For your personal canoe and kayaks, you can take advantage of Miami Whitewater Forest and Sharon Woods’ canoe and kayak launches, and new at Winton Woods will be an accessible launch opening to the public in late April and Lake Isabella is now offering canoe/kayaking Tuesdays for personal watercraft!
Campgrounds
We’ve all been itching for camping season to kick off, and whether you are looking for primitive camping or RV sites, they are all ready for your family to come out and enjoy the outdoors. Lake Isabella offers primitive camping group sites with direct access to the Little Scenic Miami River; Miami Whitewater Forest has wooded sites with electric hookups; and Winton Woods offers tent, camper/RV sites with full hookup and basic cabins.
Yes things are looking brighter than last year, but there are still some areas and activities that may be restricted due to social distancing guidelines. Get the most up-to-date information at greatparks.org.
