The BonBonerie NAILED IT with their Halloween Gingerbread House! My kids have a love/hate relationship with decorating gingerbread houses at Christmas time. My kids LOVE the creative freedom, the icing, candy used to decorate – and did I mention the icing? They, however, are often brought to tears with store-bought gingerbread house kits that either come broken or wonky and won’t stand straight. They try to use the icing to glue the walls together, and for one maybe two seconds, it holds together – they breath and it falls apart. So, there are ALWAYS tears.
I was intrigued when I heard The BonBonerie is selling pre-built Gingerbread Halloween Houses! Oh, my goodness, as a mom, this is like a dream come true! My kids can skip shedding tears over building the house and head straight to their favorite part … the decorating!
Each kit comes with a pre-built house, icing and edible decorations. The only thing I needed to supply was the scissors to cut open the bag of icing. I turned on Pandora Halloween music on to add to our Halloween fun. Once we had everything out and ready to go, my kids worked together to create their haunted masterpiece!
My daughter shared, “It’s sooooooo much better not having to put the house together!” I agreed! She worked with her brother to make a paver walkway lined with pumpkins, a cornfield, haybales, a gravestone and more. They had so many fun and delicious items to choose from to decorate! When they finally finished their “Boo”tiful haunted house, they did a celebration dance to “The Monster Mash” and ate the remaining candy corn they didn’t use. My son asked, “Can we make this a new Halloween holiday tradition?” My response: “Absolutely!”
They haven’t taste tested their masterpiece yet, but by the smell of it, I know it will taste remarkable … just like our amazing Halloween cookies from The BonBonerie!
