Usually when you hear the word “trail” you immediately think bike or hiking trail, but did you know there is another kind of trail in Butler County? A tasty DONUT TRAIL!

My son woke up one Wednesday and declared that it was “Donut Wednesday!” … his word play on “Taco Tuesday!” I figured, “Why not?” So I loaded my kids up in my SUV and headed over to our local donut shop. While we were there I noticed the Donut Trail signs. I asked an employee about it and we were given Donut Trail Passports.

Donut Trail

The passport includes nine donut shops in Butler County. You take your passport to each stop and earn a stamp with your donut purchase. When you get all nine stamps you mail in your passport and you are sent an official Donut Trail shirt! My kids were ecstatic! They wanted to collect all nine Donut Trail stamps in one day.

After convincing them that nine donut shops in one day might be too much for their tiny bellies, they ordered their favorite donuts from Stan the Donut Man and devoured them in about two bites. We decided that we would pick one donut shop each week to check out.  We collected our stamps and pictures at each location. We may just have to hit up a bike or hiking trail after all of these yummy donuts!

So grab your trail “tools” and keep an eye out for wild encounters … aka, wild donuts!
