Mom Report: blue manatee

by |

Want to take a trip with Jack and Annie in their Magic Tree House? Want to eat through one apple, two pears, three plums, and more with the Very Hungry Caterpillar? Or do you want to rock out with Pete the Cat? If so, blue manatee is the place for you! Step through the doors of blue manatee and let your imagination take over and your adventures begin!

It is an absolutely adorable bookstore! It is colorful, full of storybook characters, and overall just a welcoming place for kids and adults. They have a great selection of books, educational and eco friendly games and toys, and some of the most popular storybook characters in plush form! Kids can go through and find their favorite stories or discover new stories they want to read. They can snuggle up in a cozy reading nook with a good book, or two, or in my daughter’s case at least 20!

They also have great activities, from story times to authors signing their books. I bought a ton of Orange Triangle Fox, which is an adorable board book by Sarah Jones in a past trip. She was signing books that day, so I bought a bunch to send to friends as gifts. My children have also participated in the Spanish story times at blue manatee and most recently the Little Ninja Story Time. Not only did my kids get to hear some great stories read aloud to them about ninjas, (which of course we now need all of them in our library at home!) but Blue Manatee had a sixth-degree black belt master instructor come in and teach the kids some Taekwondo too! My little ninjas LOVED every minute of it!

After imagining they were ninja’s in Japan and learning Taekwondo moves, their little bellies were growling! We grabbed a snack (I highly recommend the cookies!) at the decafe at blue manatee and then went back to picking out books to buy. We always have a fantastic time at blue manatee and find some great new books we want to add to our library at home.   We are always looking forward to our next adventure filled visit to blue manatee!

Check out the web site for their upcoming ActivAtees. Some ActivAtees require registration. Also, check out their online store and their fabulous blue manatee boxes! Blue manatee boxes make great gifts and come in three, six, or nine book sets designed for babies and young children.
