Introducing a toddler or young child to theatre may seem intimidating. Will they sit through the whole show? What if they get a case of the wiggles or giggles? What if they lose interest? The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati’s MainStage Shows makes it easy for kiddos to fall in love with the big stage by choosing kid friendly, fun shows! This seasons shows include Peter Pan (October 21-30), Cinderella (December 9-18), Madagascar: A Musical Adventure (February 10-19), and Mary Poppins (April 7-16). Each show is chocked full of action, the sets are lavishly decorated and visually stimulating, and shows are all less than 70 minutes long – the shows are VERY appealing to children!

TCT Cincinnati also has sensory-friendly performances (Monday showtime at 9:45 a.m.) where the volume is lowered and visual effects are lessened. The downstairs lobby is also available for children who need to take a break from the show.

Last season, my mother-in-law treated my boys to being members of the Kids Club. They were able to meet members of the cast, got a special bag and hat, and they also received 10% off TCT Academy classes. It was a special treat for them to go to shows with their Goody, and the boys really enjoyed all of the shows!

This year Luca is attending Creative Toddling and loving all things theatrical, so I know we will be going to some shows this year. When we purchase our tickets, we will be doing so in person at the Red Bank ticket box, so we can use our Cincinnati Museum Center membership to get a discount!

If you have been thinking about taking your youngster to see a theatrical production, make sure to check out one of TCT’s MainStage great shows at Taft Theatre, they are truly kid friendly and lots of fun!
