Mom Report: Shaw Farm

Need to stock up on produce with your kiddos in tow? Check out Shaw Farms in Milford, Ohio. You will be able to fill your kitchen with delicious fruits and veggies, and your shopping accomplices will love the kid friendly elements the Shaw’s have thoughtfully put together for their summer shop.

While you fill your bags with Amish goods, beautiful corn, melons, peaches, squash, tomatoes, zucchini (produce from a-z), your kids will find themselves thoroughly entertained!

Have animal lovers in your crew? They will be drawn to the bleating goats and quacking ducklings. On our visit, the playful goats jumped from the ground to the top of their house, and the ducklings waddled behind their momma, who had escaped from their fenced in home. The animals are full of personality, making them fun to watch.

The scavenger hunt will be a big hit for your curious children. My boys navigated the hunt map to figure out where their next stamp was, and then they were off running! We found all four stamps, colored a picture on the sheet, and then redeemed their worksheets for a small prize.

Ever been to fall festival at Shaw Farms? Remember all of those amazing hand painted displays? Pam Shaw is a talented artist who hand paints wooden scenes. Her artwork can also be seen on display during summer, with many adorable tractor themed displays that make great backdrops for photos! Don’t be surprised if you hear little ones revving their engines, as their imaginations soar on the wooden farm equipment.

Finally, good luck prying your little ones from the corn and gravel trays! There are about a dozen tiny tractors for tots to pretend plow these “fields.” After playing in the pits for about 15 minutes, we eventually got our boys to leave by bribing them with a small, inexpensive toy from the store.

If your cupboards are bare and your kids have some energy to burn, check out Shaw Farms in Milford, Ohio! You’ll find your kitchen stocked and your kiddos worn out from a visit to Shaw — a winning combo.
