The Adventure Station indoor playground at Sharon Woods is definitely named appropriately. There are many adventures to be had at this two-story tall playground. Kids can explore a cave and giant bird nest, zoom down three slides, and climb a tree. Once upstairs, kids will find themselves transported back in time to the 1800’s as they shop at the general store, hop on a horse saddle at the stable, and lock up villains in the jail. Youngsters ages 2-5 will have a ball in the ball pit, and on the small slide designated just for them; the whole family will be challenged by the Adventure Station scavenger hunt. And if you are looking for a unique birthday party destination, consider the Adventure Station, with packages starting at just $120.

After a visit to the Adventure Station, mosey around the rest of the Sharon Centre. You will find a gift store, interactive exhibits, live animal ambassadors (turtles, snakes, lizards), and fun, free, family education programs like Critters on the Lawn, and Fossil Quest. There are also clean restrooms, vending machines, and water fountains.

Outside of Sharon Centre is a lovely playground with a variety of slides, monkey bars, and a cabin for pretend play. There are plenty of picnic tables and benches available at this area. Be sure to find your way to one of the bridges, located just a short walk away from the Centre. The creek and waterfalls are simply breathtaking.

During the summer, the Harbor is the place to be at Sharon Woods. The great playground, and water area will quickly become family favorites. Bring a bike or scooter to explore the path around the lake (bicycle rentals are available), or get IN the lake with a pedal boat, canoe, or pontoon, all available to rent at reasonable prices.

Your family is sure to work up an appetite at Sharon Woods. There is a snack shack at the harbor (May 5- Sept 9), or go on a little excursion to the nearby Rootbeer Stand. The stand has been in business for over 60 years, so they know how to keep their customers happy with footlong coneys and hot dogs, root beer floats, and freshly popped popcorn. If your kids have any energy left, they can play on the playground out back while you wait for your food!
