Thomas! Who doesn’t love the #1 blue engine? When my son turned 2, we took him to ride Thomas at Greenfield Village in Michigan. Now as my daughter creeps towards 2 it was her turn!

My husband and son have taken the LM&M Railroad Easter Bunny train the last two years. It is their favorite father/son date. They participate in activities before boarding the train, ride the train, eat snacks on their trip, stop and collect Easter eggs and then hop back on the train to return to their departure point.

I have never rode the train, so I had no idea what to expect. When we arrived, I noticed tents along the road full of activities. My daughter went from tent to tent checking them out … except the one with Sir Topham Hatt! He was a little too scary for her as she doesn’t really care for mascots! She was excited to see all of the train related activities. My son surprisingly remembered his trip almost three years ago and was bummed to see they were the exact same activities he did in Michigan. However LM&M had a bounce house, which Michigan did not, so he spent the majority of our pre-boarding time there!

Once we boarded the train we found seats that faced each other so we could enjoy the trip together. Even with the windows open it was HOT! We were thankful when the train departed and we were able to get some wind on our faces. My son was hoping they would serve popcorn or other snacks like they do on the Easter bunny train, but the trip was about 15 minutes one way and then 15 minutes back, so food was not served.

We enjoyed singing all of our favorite Thomas the Tank Engine songs that played while we were on our trip. Of course when we got home both kids ran straight to the basement to play trains! This Easter I think my daughter and I will join in on the Easter Bunny Train fun!

Up next for LM&M Railroad … take a train ride during the Lebanon Country Applefest on Sept. 26, and get ready for the Fall Harvest Flyer in October!
