It’s time to start planning those spring and summer family camping trips … and there’s lots of places to go in Tennessee! Your family experience can also be improved with the right tent, too. Coleman has always been a well-used brand with my family and I love their products. So, it didn’t surprise me that I would love this Elite Weathermaster Screened 6-Person tent.
Not only does it sleep six people comfortably, it has several other cool features not seen by many of the other tent brands. For one, it has a hinged swinging door! I would’ve loved to have had this when I was younger. All those camping trips my family took. I hated having to go back to the tent, unzip it, zip it up while inside just to get a few things just so the bugs don’t get in, unzipping it to go back out and zipping it back up as you leave. Exhausting, especially for little ones who can sometimes struggle with getting the zipper to cooperate. Well, with this hinged door, the over-lapping flap around the zippered edge keeps the bugs out, and you don’t have to worry about the back and forth process with unzipping/zipping your tent … well, until it’s time for bed or you leave your campsite. It’s so nice to just open the door and it flop right back to the tent.
Another cool thing about this tent is the built-in LED lighting system. Yeah, no more trying to tie a flashlight to the middle of the tent’s roof as I had done so many times before! The window are also self rolling so that they stay out of the way as you unzip them to allow the air to flow through. There’s even a screened in porch area, which is GREAT for when you need to take off your muddy shoes before stepping into the sleeping area. I always hated having to take my shoes off, stand on them to unzip the tent, and then step inside with shoes in hand. Just leave them on the “porch!”
Don’t worry about spending the first full day at your campsite setting up a tent. This tent is equipped with snag-free continuous pole sleeves. The other brands have a split sleeve, where I usually find myself setting it down, walking onto the top of the tent (while it’s still on the ground, LOL) and guiding it into the next sleeve. Such a pain. Not with this tent! If you know anything about setting up a tent, you should have this one ready to go in as little as 20 minutes. Not too shabby!
All in all, this is a great family trip and a wonderful investment.
