Exquisite Eggs

The Easter bunny doesn’t always have to leave candy eggs around the house. Sometimes he finds a fancy egg to help decorate his living room. Here’s a great craft to create your very own delicate eggs to adorn your home for Easter.

What you need:
Large Eggs
Big Bowl
Long Needle with a wide opening for ribbon
Thin Ribbon
Paint and/or Egg Dye

What you do:

  1. Take one egg and carefully poke a hole in the top of it about the size of a ladybug or just a little smaller
  2. Turn it over and do the same to the bottom
  3. Hold the egg over the big bowl and slowly blow through one of the holes – this will push out the yolk into the bowl
  4. Repeat steps 1 – 3 for the amount of eggs you want to decorate
  5. After you have emptied out the eggs, you can put the yolk’s in the fridge and cook them up later the same day … or just throw them out
  6. Put all the hollowed-out eggs into a pot of boiling water to clean them
  7. Carefully remove them and lay them out to dry
  8. While they are drying, take your ribbon and cut strips that are about one foot long or longer
  9. Take your long needle and thread a bit of the ribbon through it
  10. Slide the needle through the hole in the top of the egg and out the bottom, but don’t pull all the ribbon through
  11. Tie a bow in the ribbon at the bottom, which will hold the egg on the ribbon so that it can hang
  12. Tie a bow in the top of the ribbon at the end so that there is a bit of distance between the egg and the bow for hanging
  13. Now you can paint whatever your heart desires onto the egg and hang to dry

These beautiful eggs may be a little hard for little ones to do, but they can certainly help paint them. Your wonderful creations will add a special touch to your home and will have everyone asking where you bought them! So, have fun with it and add as much to the design as you wish. Stick on jewels or dots are fun, too.
