Easy Peasy Table Tricks

Allow your kids to set the dinner table for you … Starting when they are small!

Emily Post says that with kids, use the word “FORKS”

F is for fork, which goes first on the left-hand side of the plate

O is the plate, which goes in the middle

K is for knife, which goes to the right of the plate with the blade side facing the plate

S is for spoon

Hey, we dropped the R, right? Just think “you keep moving to the right with the right placement”

Next, another tip for remembering where to put the bread plate and the drink:

Holding your hands in front of you, touch the tips of your thumbs to the tips of your forefingers to make a lowercase ‘b’ with your left hand and a lowercase ‘d’ with your right hand. Hold your hands in front of you to see the “b” your fingers make with your left hand and the “d” your fingers make with your right. This reminds you that bread plate goes to the left of the place setting and the drink, or drinks go on the right.

One more thing …

The napkin goes to the left of the fork, or on the plate … NOT beneath the fork!
