Lake Shafer is a man-made lake just north of Monticello, Indiana, and is known for its boating, fishing, swimming and other recreational water sports. There’s plenty of dining options, along with hotels and campgrounds that fit all budgets. Just south of Monticello is Lake Freeman, which is also known for its fishing and boating.
If you need a weekend to get away, this is a great place to visit!
We headed to Lake Shafer for a weekend of boating, swimming, sunning, jet skiing, and more water shenanigans. It was an amazing weekend for everyone — of all the lakes we’ve visited, this one is our favorite. It truly feels like a community!
