It’s a total eclipse of the sun, and you don’t want to miss it. On Monday, August 21, North America will see its first solar eclipse in almost 100 years. For this once-in-a-lifetime event, institutions across the Tristate area are throwing a soiree. To ensure that you don’t miss out on the big event, here is a list of some places where you can witness it.  Be sure to tell us about other hot spots!

 

Attend the viewing party and tour the Observatory on Monday from 12 to 4 pm. This event is free, and reservations are not required.

Don’t miss this viewing party from 12-3 pm. Admission is $15.

Have the chance to make your own pinhole projector with which to view the eclipse safely. This viewing party is from 1:45-3 pm and will convene in front of the Rowe Visitor Center. Preregistration is required, and the event costs $3 for members and $10 for nonmembers.

Come celebrate Eclipse Day at the Costel Overlook in Glenwood Gardens from 1-4 pm. Admission is free.

All branches will host a special viewing party with glasses provided by STAR-Net Libraries, while supplies last, from 1 – 3 pm.

RSVP for this viewing party at the Newport branch from 2 – 3:30 pm, and check out a planetarium area for space crafts, games and more.

Head to the Covington branch from 1 – 3 p.m. to check out the eclipse!
