We have superheroes living among us – of the four-legged variety! We had the opportunity to go see the new showing “Superpower Dogs” at the Cincinnati Museum Center’s Robert D. Lindner Family OMNIMAX Theater, and we were blown away by the amazing feats that these amazing dogs can do; everything from swimming miles without getting tired while towing more then 50 times their weight, to providing the emotional support to empower people to overcome their fears.
Before the show started, we were greeted by Henry who flew in with his handler, Ian, on a helicopter. Henry works in British Colombia where he is dropped into an avalanche by a helicopter to find people buried under the snow. Henry can find people in a matter of minutes where it would take a team of people hours to find someone. We found this movie to not only be informative, but it was also an emotional journey as we learned how these “superdogs” work with their people partners to save humans everyday. We also shared some emotional moments as we witnessed Halo’s journey from the runt of the litter, to passing her certification to be on the disaster relief team to help find people in disaster zones.
This was our first experience in an Omnimax theater, and it was quite the sensory experience – the screen is the entire domed ceiling and the sound was booming. My kids loved it! Go see “Superpower Dogs” at the Cincinnati Museum Center before it’s too late! Adult tickets $9, seniors $8, ages 3 – 12 $7, ages 0 -2 free; members receive a discount (member adult $6, member child $5).
