Parents of kids ages 2 – 8 with sensory integration challenges can take advantage of a new story time offered Erlanger branch of the Kenton County Public Library (401 Kenton Lands Road, Erlanger). Rhythm and Rhyme: Sensory Storytime meets one Saturday a month and is led by children’s librarian Julie Mills, who received special training to conduct the program. A short, low-key story time will be followed by activities designed to stimulate the senses — sifting through a bucket of beans to find items like buttons, or using sidewalk chalk on corrugated cardboard.

The Sensory Storytime will be held in the Meeting Room, rather than the Children’s Activity Room, in order to avoid distractions, and kids will be given the plan for that day’s session in order to help ease any anxiety. This month’s Sensory Storytime will be held on Nov. 30; visit kentonlibrary.org to RSVP and for a schedule of upcoming dates.

Story times for special needs kids are also available on Friday mornings at the main branch of the Boone County Public Library (1786 Burlington Pike, Burlington). Visit bcpl.org to register.
