For the Hancock sisters, a quilt is more than just pieces of fabric sewn together, it is a way to share a family history.  Spread between Cincinnati, Louisville and Taos, NM, the sisters — Terrie, Pat and Becky — send fabric and squares to each other to create quilts that have their own unique style (some even incorporate things like photographs and sea shells) as well as share their own unique stories.

The quilts tell the tales of the sisters’ parents, siblings, births and deaths and more — all of which serve as the basis of the new Storied Threads exhibit at the Behringer-Crawford Museum.  The Hancock sisters’ quilts will appear among others featured in the exhibit that celebrates the work of local quilters.

Open now through May 13, the exhibit is free with admission.  The Behringer-Crawford Museum is located at 1600 Montague Road, Devou Park, Covington.  Learn more at 859-491-4003 or visit bcmuseum.org
