A good spa experience is therapeutic for the body and mind. Omega Beauty & Wellness  in OTR delivers luxurious services that leave spa-goers both relaxed to the max and re-energized. Omega even offers the trendy Japanese head spa experience, and trust us when we say this trend lives up to the hype. We had a chance to check out Omega for ourselves and if we can influence you to try anything, this might be the one we say, “Seriously. Try this.”

My Japanese Ultimate Head Spa Experience

Walking into Omega, the vibe was earthy but modern, chic yet simple. After changing into a towel wrap, I moseyed my way over to the head spa realm. The dimly lit room and the running water sounds created a calming ambiance from the get go. My provider, Kate, used a camera to get a closer look at my scalp to analyze it and show me what she saw. Nothing too wild (don’t worry, I’m not bragging about having a beautiful scalp- I will get candid about acne here in a moment), but a little bit of buildup near the follicle that she assured me she would take care of during our time together.

For the next ninety minutes, I truly became one with the table with which I lay. My scalp was massaged, shampooed, massaged and rinsed, massaged some more, my hair was masked, conditioned and more. My absolute favorite part was the trickling water from the halo waterfall. It was like being in a real life ASMR video—goosebump inducing heaven!

I was looking forward to the gua sha facial, as I had never had one done by a professional! I was good and relaxed during the gua sha facial, and my face became a fleshy putty which Kate molded to her liking. I imagine I looked a bit like Sloth from Goonies as she used the stones to gently scrape my muscles to relieve tension and inflammation. I had been suffering from some sinus pressure prior to my visit, which was majorly relieved post Gua sha. Kate used several products during the facial massage. I am very prone to cystic, hormonal acne and was experiencing a forehead flareup during my visit. The products used did not irritate my skin, they smelled delightful and were gentle. My skin felt squeaky clean and noticeably softer after the facial, to the point that I invested in the Skinceuticals LHA gentle cleanser. I am not typically someone who buys extended warranties or the products suggested at salons… but yes, I bought the face wash and I am in love with it.

At the conclusion of my experience, Kate brought out the handy dandy camera once again to show me my scalps progress. I never knew I could be so impressed by the transformation of my scalps cleanliness. But there I was, proud of how far my scalp had come and how squeaky clean it now looked!

Leaving Omega, I was relaxed to the point I had to sit in my car for a few minutes before I felt comfortable driving. I just can’t imagine being pulled over by an officer… “Ma’am, you were driving in two lanes.” “I am so sorry. I just had a Japanese Head Spa experience and I am honestly too relaxed to be operating a motor vehicle… truly, that’s my bad.” Thankfully, I used my best judgement and waited before starting my vehicle up and going on my way. I opted to not utilize Omega’s dry bar to blow dry and style my hair, but once my hair did dry, it felt bouncier and oh-so healthy!
