The Cincinnati Police District 2’s National Night Out event was held on August 4 from 6 – 9 p.m. at Owl’s Nest Park (1984 Madison Road). This is an annual event held every year in early August. All ages can take part.
When we arrived, we knew we were in for a fun evening! The CPD provided free water bottles, two-liter pops, hot dogs, hamburgers, and pizza! There were multiple booths filled with exhibits and activities from local Community Councils and other volunteer groups featuring preschool admissions, the Evanston Recreation center, a music program, National Parks and a Healthcare tent, just to name a few. New-school and old-school music filled the air and a group of youngsters had a dance contest doing the Nay-Nay!
The purpose of this gathering is to “Promote better police-community relations.” The Cincinnati Police had a couple pieces of their special equipment on display such as SWAT vehicle and the Cincinnati Fire Department had a smoke house for kids to practice escaping from a burning building. We had a fantastic time participating and will be back next year, check it out!
