I am a collector of many things. I have a plethora of sharpies, shoes, and I enjoy collecting my Starbucks stars for free drinks. Now, along with my kids, I am a collector of National Parks stamps!
This summer we took a trip to Gatlinburg, TN, with our children’s Godparents. We visited the Smokey Mountains and as we were loading our kids into the car, their Godparents gifted each of them a National Parks Passport! I had no clue that they even existed. We took them to the visitor center and they got their Smokey Mountain passport stamp and their cancellation stamp showing the date they visited the park.
My daughter calls it her journal book and likes to look at her stamps and my son likes to read as much as he can about the different national parks and is busy making a list of which places he wants to visit next. The passport is broken down by geographic region and with more than 400 national park sites, so I think we will be busy for a while.
With fall just around the corner, we are planning which parks we will visit to hike and observe the changing of the leaves. We also plan on visiting the William Howard Taft National Historic Site and the Dayton Aviation Heritage National Historic Park this fall.
