We needed a fun day – and let me tell you, life has been nothing but busy – so taking a day to focus on the big kids and roam Kings Island’s annual Tricks and Treats Fall Fest was the best treat these kids could have.
[ngg src=”galleries” ids=”94″ display=”basic_thumbnail” thumbnail_crop=”0″]We headed out shortly after they opened and prepared for a long day – riding rides was on the agenda, but first – trick-or-treating.
The decor alone gets the kids pumped up for fall fun and family-friendly spookiness – the kids wouldn’t stop pointing and laughing at all of the cool pumpkins and scary skeletons throughout the park. Right away when we embarked along International Street, the trick-or-treat stations were ready for us. As you walk along this street loaded with costumed characters roaming around and tasting foods to try (I’ll get back to that!) the kids immediately began filling up their Halloween bags – and this was only the beginning! There are 13 trick-or-treat stations throughout the park, so get your sweet tooth ready! (I recommend bringing your own small baggy, not all of the stations had one!) Then it was off to try some specialty foods.
At first, I was a little skeptical about buying a Tricks And Treats Fall Fest Tasting Card (purchase them at any of the delicious food stations) – with this card, you can visit numerous tasting locations offering snack-sized portions of scrumptious sweets and savories. Why was I unsure? It was a tad bid pricey, however what I didn’t know before I went, was if you purchase one in advance online, you save money. Plus, portions are perfect to share so splitting the cost with a family member is a way to save more. We got to choose among 24 seasonal tastes – from sweet to spicy and more. Food tasting locations are open from 12 -10 p.m. Saturdays; and until 8 p.m. on Sundays.
Next up, Tricks and Treats in Snoopy Land. This is where all of the fall fun is. Catch a show, costume contest, enjoy the rides, play fall-themed games (don’t forget to purchase your coins at the booth before you play!), crafts, mazes and more! The kids were having a blast and were very pleased that the rides were still open, too! Having an extra adult (aka my mom) come along with use was great so I could ride some big kid rides with my 10 year old; and Snoopy Land rides with my 5 year old! This mama was tired!
We were having so much fun, we didn’t realize it was opening night of the award-winning Halloween Haunt which begins at 7 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays! If you don’t get out of there in time, you might run into some scary clowns (honestly, my kids didn’t mind at all – they enjoyed the thrill as we scurried out of the park!)
Head out to Tricks and Treats for loads of fun! There are only two weekends left, so grab your best costumes and enjoy all of the festive fall show and entertainment, games, treats, a kiddie corn maze, rides, crafts and tons more!
