Recently my husband and I wanted a night out with some of our friends. (Mommy and Daddy need play dates too!) We wanted to do something we hadn’t done yet. We decided on checking out Escape the Room and purchased tickets online for the Double Agent Dilemma. (One of the three challenges they currently offer.) The challenge we chose can have up to 12 people in the room at once. We didn’t fill the room, so there were people that we did not know in the room with us, but these “strangers” made great teammates!

If you are not familiar with the Escape the Room Challenge, it is an interactive puzzle. You get locked in a room and have an hour to look for clues, put the clues together and solve the puzzle. It is not a race to see who solves it the fastest, but a race to see if you and your team can work together to solve the puzzle before the time runs out. Of course as soon as they said “locked in,” I immediately needed to use the restroom, but I was assured if a bathroom break is needed they will unlock the door and let you out!

The game is really a game of communication and working together. It would make a great team building activity! We played with all adults, but upon winning our challenge I asked if younger kids could play too. It was mentioned that it is designed for ages 12 and older, but there have been younger kids that have played. It could be a fun activity for parents with tweens and teens! I wouldn’t take my 3-year0old daughter as I can see her rearranging the clues … I have attempted to fold clothes with her awake many times … now I just fold when she goes to bed! I would love to take my son though! I think he would enjoy being a “detective” and trying to solve the puzzle with my husband and me. We definitely recommend checking out Escape the Room for an adult play date, mom’s/dad’s night out, team building event, or with older children. We solved our puzzle with two minutes and 17 seconds left on the clock. Can you beat that?
