Cincinnati Museum Center at Union Terminal (1301 Western Ave.) hosted a Free Friday event recently, and my kiddo and I decided to enjoy this awesome opportunity! What a breathtaking building! Cincinnati Museum Center is housed in an original train terminal built in the art-deco style of the 1930s. High-domed ceilings mirrored many details throughout the building — like the original ticket windows, traffic lights and classical styling in graphic design.
Cincinnati Museum Center has three museums in one — the Museum of Natural History and Science, the Cincinnati History Museum, and the Duke Energy Children’s Museum. Also, the OMNIMAX Theatre has hourly viewings. I was very impressed with the employees of the center, they were easily identifiable and extremely knowledgeable about each exhibit.
Duke Energy Children’s Museum is in the lower level of this extraordinary building, and has the most imaginative, hands-on center for kids! There’s so much to engage your child, they will have a blast with the many interactive play areas. Plan on spending three to four hours depending on your tot’s duration of focus. My suggestion would be to pack your own lunch and wear comfortable shoes. I am blown away by this museum, what a successful day!
