Maple sugaring has been underway for a few weeks now, but there’s still time to get in on the action.  Check out these events coming up this Saturday, Feb. 25!

Maple Sugar Days from 12 – 4 p.m. Feb. 25 and 26 at the Ellenwood Nature Barn in Farbach-Werner Nature Preserve (3455 Poole Road).  Enjoy the awakening of the trees as they prepare for spring with the very traditional craft of making maple syrup.  It’s a delicious weekend of tastes, crafts, demos and hikes.  Call 513-521-7275 or visit greatparks.org.

Sugar Camp at 10 a.m., and 12, 2 and 5 p.m. at Middleton-Mills Park (3415 Mills Road, Covington).  Step into the forest and back in time to experience life in a mid-1800s sugar camp.  Learn the art and science of making maple syrup the old-fashioned way.  Make a spile, tap a tree and gather sap!  For more info, call 859-525-PLAY or visit kentoncounty.org.

Walk Through the Sugarbush at 11 a.m. at the Pin Oak Trail in Farbach-Werner Nature Preserve (3455 Poole Road).  Discover where maple syrup comes from as you walk through a grove of sugar maple trees, sampling sap along the way.  After the walk, enjoy the Maple Sugar Days festival, which begins at noon (see above).  Call 513-521-7275 or visit greatparks.org.
