Since 1998, Living Lands & Waters (LL&W) has worked with more than 97,000 volunteers to remove 8.7 million pounds of marine debris form America’s rivers, and they need your help! The 2016 Ohio River Tour will kick off in Cincinnati, and the group will host several river cleanups in the area.
LL&W operates a fleet of barges, known as the only “industrial strength” river cleanup operation in the world. During their stay in Cincinnati, the crew will host two cleanups per day, from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. and from 1 – 4 p.m. between July 27 and Aug. 6. Individuals, families, and groups are welcome, however volunteers should be 12 years or older. Each time slot can accommodate up to 45 volunteers, and all necessary materials, including lunch, trash bags, gloves, life jackets, water, sunscreen and bug spray, will be provided.
