Calling all young artists! The Carnegie has opened registration for its winter 2018 ArtStop Artist Series workshops. The three eight-week workshops will focus on movement and dance, and will be led by teaching artist Kim Popa (of Pones, Inc.) and Jackie Smith.
The winter 2018 classes are open to children ages 7-12 and take place Saturdays, January 20 – March 10, 2018. Classes will run hourly from 9:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. in The Carnegie’s Eva G. Farris Education Center.
Workshops being offered during the winter 2018 session include:
Music Video Stars
Create your own music video from start to finish with Walk the Moon choreographer Kim Popa. From storyboard to choreography to costumes, students will enjoy creating music videos for their favorite musical hits.
Class Fee: $30 per 8 week session
Living Labyrinth
Take your audience on a journey through different worlds. With the assistance of hand-made props and scenery, students will use their bodies to communicate different environments. As seaweed in an underwater kingdom or the blazing fires of the sun, students will help their friends and family navigate through the many worlds of their Living Labyrinth.
Class Fee: $30 per 8 week session
Dancing the Internet
Viral videos plus dance equals pure entertainment. Students will enjoy re-enacting some of our favorite internet videos through dance. How can we turn “Charlie Bit My Finger” or “Children Interrupt BBC News Interview” into the next dance sensation?
Class Fee: $30 per 8 week session
Coinciding with the ArtStop Artist Series workshops, parents can take advantage of The Carnegie’s new community health initiative – Yoga in The Gallery. The free yoga classes will run from 12 – 1 p.m. in The Carnegie’s Ohio National Financial Services Main Gallery and are open to all experience levels.
All ArtStop Artist Series workshops end with a culminating experience for friends and family. Participants registering for more than one workshop will receive a $10 discount. Class size is limited and registration is required.
