My husband is one of those men who has everything he wants, and needs. I struggle to find my husband gifts for his birthday, our anniversary, and other holidays. My go-to gifts are typically related to his favorite sports teams, his job (he is a teacher), or our shared TV and music interests. He has a million and one Bearcat, Bengals, and Reds shirts. He has a best teacher, The Walking Dead, and a Guster coffee mug. His sock drawer is overflowing. If I am being honest, it is a serious task to think of something meaningful, unique, and creative to gift my dear husband for many holidays.
With that said, I do NOT struggle to think of a gift when Father’s Day rolls around each year. I created a tradition for my husband’s first Father’s Day, that has become beloved and celebrated. Each year, I take some simple photos of my husband, and our sons somewhere they enjoy that year. Photoshoot day is much loved — everyone coordinates, we usually end up getting ice cream or some other treat after the photos, and Dad feels special. It started with one son, then two, and now his photo shoot consists of a group photo and individual shots with his three sons! I make a simple photo collage, print it out at Walgreens (because there is *always* a photo print coupon, it costs under $10), and we display this photo in our main hallway. It has been a joy to watch the boys grow from year to year, and to look back on where we had the photo shoots. One year we took photos at Findlay Market, another at the beach, and another at Newport’s Italian Fest. It is a meaningful, unique, and creative gift for my dear husband and loving father of my boys! If you are looking to start a tradition, a photo collage gift is one you will cherish.
This year, along with my husband’s photo collage, we plan on gifting him something handmade with love by the boys. The Silver Diva is a hand-stamping jewelry store in West Chester where your kids can personalize gifts for Dad (and tons of other things — necklaces, rings, key chains, etc.). Some gift ideas for Dad include personalized key chain bottle openers, cuff links, money clips, tie bars, fishing lures, dog tags, golf ball markers, and more! Your kids can choose their font, design stamps, and get to work personalizing a great gift for Dad. The store is also a great place to have a girls’ night out, but let’s focus on Dad today.
Thankfully I have Father’s Day gifts covered with my photo collage, and customized Silver Diva gifts. There won’t be a mad dash to Target where I scramble and throw random stuff in the cart this time … but what are your go-to gifts for the man in your life? Please leave me some comments, I need good ideas for all of the other holidays! Haha!
