It’s a Boy!

Come to the zoo to meet Fiona's little brother, Fritz.

Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden’s hippo bloat has grown by four feet, one cute nose, two twitchy ears and one adorable little tail. Congratulations to Mom (Bibi), Dad (Tucker) and big sister (Fiona) on the arrival of sweet baby Fritz. Bibi birthed the happy baby hippo boy a little after 10 p.m. on August 3.

Mom and Baby are both doing well with Fritz swimming, playing and nursing like a champ. At birth, the newest CZBG hippo calf weighed almost double Fiona’s birth weight, as Fiona was born six weeks premature. After his arrival, zoo fans suggested and then voted on names for the newest hippo addition with the moniker, Fritz, getting top votes!

Follow the zoo for updates on Fritz at cincinnatizoo.org or on social media. Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden is located at 3400 Vine Street in Cincinnati, call 513-281-4700 for more information.
