Things We Like: Homemade Ice Cream

Summer sure is sweet! The kids are out of school, the sun is shining and there is ample time to spend together. Add to summer's sweetness with these delicious dessert ideas. 

Healthier Chocolate “Nice” Cream

There are lots of variations of this recipe out there, but most stick to a few basic ingredients: cut and frozen bananas, cocoa powder and milk (could be coconut, almond, two percent, etc.). Optional additions include nut butters, chocolate chips, vanilla, maple syrup, etc. This Chocolate “Nice” Cream delivers all of the flavors with none of the guilt!

Simple blend together:

-2 chopped, frozen bananas

-¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder 

-2-3 tablespoons, your choice of milk

Summery S’mores Chocolate Ice Cream Pie

Summer isn’t complete without indulging in a s’more or two or more … why not enjoy a s’more while also enjoying chocolate ice cream? This fun dessert brings together ooey gooey s’mores and delicious chocolate ice cream in a layered yummy pie.

-Buy Graham cracker pie crust at your nearest grocery

-Microwave 2 cups chocolate chips, 2 cups mini marshmallows and  ½ cup milk for 2 ½ minutes, stir and then pour over graham cracker crust. Freeze until firm.

-Cut the carton away from a pint of chocolate ice cream, lay it on it’s side and slice. Press ice cream onto the chocolate layer of the pie. Freeze overnight. 

-Before serving, top with whipped topping.
