I am all about convenience and finding creative ways to get my son outdoors. I recently tested “Just Add Nature” kits, and they are perfect grab-and-go buckets. These kits have just what you need to teach children the foundations of fishing in a safe way.
The recommended age for these kits are 8+ years. My son is almost 3, so they were a little advanced for him; but, we got creative and were still able to use an item out of each kit. He had a blast at the creek!
The “Rig A Dinger” kit includes:
- 4 Training Dingers
- 4 Plastic Hooks
- 4 Barbless #4 Hooks
- Wacky Rig Tool
- Pliers
- Bucket
My son and I assembled the “wacky rig” and the step-by-step instructions were very helpful since this was our first try and we did it!
The “Hoppin’ Things” kit includes:
- 4 Spring Floats
- 6 Barbless #4 Hooks
- 6 Split Shot
- 1 Net
- Pliers
- Bucket
My son loved the net in this kit! In fact, we caught a salamander! Can you spot it in the picture?
The “Wiggly Worm” kit includes:
- 4 Spring Floats
- 6 Barbless #4 Hooks
- 6 Split Shot
- 1 Shovel
- Pliers
- 2 sided poster
- Bucket
My son used the shovel to dig up some dirt and rocks. He did not find any worms, but he had fun trying!
These kits are affordable – costing just under $8 and are available at Walmart. Note: these kits do not come with a fishing pole.
