Mom Report: A Cool Experience at the Hollywood Drive-In

The old College Hill Hollywood Theatre is bringing back movies, but this time from your car!

My kids had a fun time attending the College Hill Hollywood Drive-In and thoroughly enjoyed watching “Monsters Inc.,” on the big screen from our van. It is perfect for families as it is not overwhelmingly crowded.

We arrived in plenty of time before our movie began, and it was nice watching people blow bubbles and just hang out prior to the film. The kids thought it was cool that you can actually tune into the radio station and hear the movie in a surround-sound form, and they were amazed a movie could be played outside (adorable)!

Of course, as you can image, lots of questions were asked about how things worked. We went to a drive-in once when they were real little, so this was really their first time attending. The Hollywood Drive-In has a super family-friendly environment, and was great experience for my kids! Helpful note before you go: If you plan on attending on a Monday like we did, there are no refreshments available – they are only available Thursday through Sundays.

You can now catch family-friendly flicks Thursday – Monday nights. Gather the family and see your favorite movies such as “Frozen,” “Jurassic Park,” “Coco,” and tons more favorites, including movies from your childhood!

The movie begins at dusk around 9:15 p.m., but you can get there early to park and enjoy some refreshments beginning at 8:15 p.m. You can view the movie from your car or put chairs outside your vehicle. The theater asks you to wear a mask when you exit your car and follow other CDC guidelines. Payment is $20 per vehicle, and is contact-less and cars are parked 6 feet apart.

Come watch a movie and check out the Hollywood Theater Drive In this summer through September 7! Check out what’s showing and learn more at hollywooddriveintheater.com.
