Indoor Family Fun!

Fight cabin fever with some indoor fun for everyone; enjoy some great local excursions that are perfect for the winter months.

3rd Sunday Funday: Wild West at the Taft Museum of Art, Sunday, March 15, 1 – 4 p.m.


-Cincinnati Art Museum

Along with tons of amazing arts, be sure to check out the Rosenthal Education Center for cool children’s art projects. REC Reads story time is a great way to enjoy early children’s literacy and some art, too (Wednesdays from 11:30 a.m. – noon). 

-Contemporary Art Center

The UnMuseum is a wonderful and immersive art experience for pint sized art enthusiasts. Be sure to check out the CAC for their Family Festivals- these monthly afternoons feature craft making and other amazing activities, the next one is February 22, 12 – 3 p.m. 

Taft Museum of Art

The Taft Museum of Art has wonderful monthly programming for children. Taft Jr. introduces youngsters to art through hands on crafts and 3rd Sunday Funday provides the public with plenty of cultural experiences like musical and theatrical performances, craft making and sometimes even animal encounters! Each month has a different theme, the next one is Wild West is March 15 from 1 – 4 p.m.

-Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden

Put on a warm winter coat and make your way from building to building!  Waddle like a penguin from the bird house over to the Insect house and crawl on up to Night Hunters. There are plenty of places to explore all while staying warm while at the zoo.

-Great Parks of Hamilton County

There are tons of great parks in Hamilton County! If you are looking for somewhere to warm up, venture to the Adventure Station in Sharon Woods. This indoor playground has plenty of places to crawl, climb and slide. Also located in the visitor center, be sure to check out the animal ambassadors and nature programming! 

-Krohn Conservatory

Spring ahead to visions of colorful flowers in lush gardens with the Spring show, Bloom & Grow through March 8. This exhibition is playful, whimsical and perfect for kids! Then later next month (March 21), head back to Krohn for the 25th anniversary butterfly show, Butterflies of Bali. 

-Newport Aquarium

Be sure to check out the new exhibit, Shipwreck: Realm of the Eels during your next Aquarium visit. Stay warm all while seeing sharks, turtles, snakes, stingrays and more.

-Behringer-Crawford Museum

If you haven’t been to Behringer- Crawford Museum, add it to your to-do list this winter! This quaint museum explores NKY history including planes, trains and automobiles. Don’t miss out on their monthly Tot Tuesdays programs which include a story and craft, and be sure to visit again during Spring or Summer- there is a great nature playscape behind the museum and scenic Devou Park is a must-visit attraction, too. Visit BC Museum for year-round fun!

Every day is an amazing day to visit CMC because kids can learn and play the day away! There are 3 fabulous museums all housed under one beautiful art deco dome. With a discovery pass, visit the History Museum, Natural History & Science Museum AND the amazing Duke Energy Children’s Museum. Each museum has programming every week- we recommend checking out Story Tree Time (Wednesdays at 11 a.m.) and Super Sprouts drop-in art programs (Mondays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. – noon).

Fun for everyone – EJ is a great place to spend the whole day. The world’s largest train display is sure to impress your entire family- young and old. The littlest train-lovers will be entertained with the movement, lights, sounds and interactive components, active kiddos will adore the indoor play place, EVERYONE will love the attention to details and partaking in the changing scavenger hunts and history buffs will enjoy the Train Museum. Chug on in to EnterTRAINment Junction this winter!

Looking to take some cool classes? Kids First Sports Center has tons available including yoga, cheer, dance, swim, fencing, karate and gymnastics! They also offer camps and parent’s night out events. 

-Sports Plus

Kids bouncing off the walls and need to burn off some energy? Sports Plus has so much to do under one roof! Kids can rock climb, zip line and bounce on trampolines all day long. You can even hit the ice during open skate times. 


The Y is the place to be all year long. Of course summers can be spent at the pool and kids love the YMCA day camps, but during chilly months there is plenty to do at the Y, too. Kids can sign up for basketball or even swim lessons, plus tball, baseball and soccer signups are right around the corner. Looking to burn off some steam on any given day? Be sure to check your local YMCA’s schedule for open swim and gym times and be on the lookout for special events like the Underwater Egg Hunt on March 29! 

-Little Gym of Mason

Little ones will love the little gym! Sign up for gymnastics, dance, karate and more with the Little Gym. They even have birthdays and camps!
