It just wouldn’t be fall without a hayride and pumpkin patch, but Kinman Farms offers so much more during its annual fall festival. A working farm since 1945, the farm offers a variety of activities that the entire family will love. Games like Stuff the Scarecrow and a coloring and craft area sit under a large tent near the front barn, where kids can also get their faces painted. Tucked in the back corner a photo booth waits to capture the happy faces of fall.
A walk-through shop sits next door and sells everything from fresh produce and pumpkins to jams, to Fall and Halloween decorations. Hay bales hold baskets of goods and pots of bright mums, and if you look hard enough you can even spot a couple parakeets hiding in a corner cage.
If you pass through the shop you’ll reach Kinman’s Grill, selling various treats for lunch or an afternoon snack. Attached is a patio overlooking the large pond in the middle of the property. An additional picnic shelter at the back of the farm hosts a bonfire and performance stage, where bands come to play during the festival. Groups like The Hired Guns, Pappy’s Jam Band and Ky Myle are on the 2015 schedule.
Check out the farm’s petting zoo, located in the large barn. The petting zoo is home to traditional farm animals such as sheep, ponies, cows and chickens but also houses some unique creatures like a camel, peacock and emu. Children are invited to pet all the animals and cups of sweet corn are available to feed to the friendly creatures.
Games and activities are scattered all over the farm and are sure to entertain children of all ages, including parents. The barn, tents and shop are all wheelchair and stroller accessible, and guests are welcome to bring food and have a picnic or eat at Kinman’s Grill. All activities except the pony rides and corn maze are sheltered, so rain won’t dampen the mood.
Before you leave, hop on the hayride and enjoy a slow tour around the farm. And just in case you didn’t get to do everything in a day, the festival runs every weekend, rain or shine, through Nov. 1.

Visits to a local farm are tradition in Greater Cincinnati – our local Mom Reporter, Tina Pratt, recently took a jaunt to Fall on the Farm at Blooms & Berries. Get the scoop on her day here: https://cincinnatifamilymagazine.com/uncategorized/mom-report-fall-on-the-farm.
