Theatre at the J provides an outlet for creative expression and creates a safe space for children to find their place in the arts community, all while forming lifelong friendships and strong connections within the community. 

Program Overview  

• Name: Theatre at the J  

• Location: Mayerson JCC (8485 Ridge Avenue Cincinnati OH, 45236)  

• Launch Year: 2022  

• Focus: Youth theatre program fostering confidence, creativity, and peer connections through performing arts.  

Program Goals  

• Confidence Building: Students grow in self-assurance and creativity.  

• Peer Connections: Fostering friendships and teamwork during classes and rehearsals.  

• Performance: Students learn the basics of theatre, including character development, ensemble building, vocal performance, and choreography 

Classes Offered  

• Everyone’s a Star  

• Target Age: 8 – 14 

• Description: A more advanced class for older children designed to hone acting and vocal skills and develop their performance abilities, while collaborating with fellow peers.
  

• Everyone’s a Star Mini  

• Target Age: 5 – 7 

• Description: A beginner-level class designed to help younger performers gain confidence, focus on character development, learn emotional expression, and more.

• Focus: A mix of fun and educational activities to engage students and help them connect with their characters.

• Show: Disney’s Frozen JR.  

• Performance Dates: May 14, 15, and 18, 2025  

• Tech Rehearsals: May 4 – 8, 11 – 13 

• Location: Mayerson JCC  

• Each session will culminate in a live performance. Theatre at the J hosts a Fall play and a Spring musical yearly.
