Honey bees are vital pollinators. With their population declining, it is extremely important to learn more about them and the simple things you can do to help in their survival. Fortunately, Great Parks offers programs that do just that!

The Buzz on Native Bees

Farbach-Werner Nature Preserve/Ellenwood Nature Barn
Learn about the over 500 native bee species in Ohio and build a bee house for your yard. (Free, Bee houses: $5/each)

Honeybees
Saturday, April 14, 1:30-2:30 p.m.
Winton Woods/Parky’s Farm
Drop by anytime this hour to take a look inside the hives and learn about honeybees. For ages 7 and up. (Free)

Busy Bees
Tuesday, May 1-Sunday, May 6, Tuesday-Saturday, 10:45 a.m. & 1 p.m. & Sun, 1 p.m.
Glenwood Gardens/Highfield Discovery Garden
Bees labor tirelessly in the growing season. Learn how their work benefits their own kind, but maybe even more so, our human lives. (Program included in Highfield admission: $5/person)

Brilliant Bees
Sunday, 5/6, 1 p.m.
Sharon Woods/Sharon Centre
Join us to learn about these powerful pollinators and build a mason bee house. (Free)

A valid Motor Vehicle Permit is required to enter the parks. Cost for residents of Hamilton County: $10 annual/$3 daily; other visitors: $14 annual/$5 daily. Otto Armleder Memorial Park and Fernbank Park are cooperative ventures with the City of Cincinnati; a Motor Vehicle Permit is not required.
