We snagged a babysitter and set off to Eddie Merlot’s to try it out for ourselves. Our waiter, Joe, guided us through the menu and helped us select amazing eats and drinks that we continue to pine for post-meal, even a week later.
Our cocktails were the catalyst of our evening sensory feast! The Burnt Orange Manhattan’s orange twist is flamed table side, and the aromatic Berry White Martini manages to taste as good as it smells. From there, we went big with our appetizer choice—the Signature Beef Carpaccio, which was full of bright flavors and tasty textures galore -crunchy crostini, poppy capers and a bit of bite from the shaved parm. Decadent, but not dense, we still had room for our dinners which were Steak Diane and Lobster Thermidor. Buttery, flaming steak resulted in a rich and deeply flavored for the Mr., while the Mrs.’s lobster was dueling for first place in the dinner competition (we liked both meals, and declared it was a tie). We opted for our fave side dish we enjoy when dining out- Brussels sprouts. They were wonderful, and the big chunks of bacon were unrivaled. By this time, the hubs and I were feeling a bit full, but reader, we trudged on because the assignment was to fully document the Eddie Merlot’s experience. A cup of hot coffee, compliments of the high-end table side service, gave us enough energy to keep going and reach our final frontier: dessert. The Vanilla Cognac Brownie delivered yet another upscale table side experience. Rich, dense, fudge brownie… vanilla bean ice cream… vanilla-infused cognac… hot fudge… creme anglaise… spiced pecans AND fresh, vivacious raspberries. I must confess to having a sweet tooth, but this dessert for two might have deliver the top bite of the night. Hot, cold, crunchy, gooey, rich, bright. Really a 12/10, no notes. Truly that would be the review of the whole evening—12/10! No Notes. We experienced impeccable care, attention to detail and thoughtfulness at every step of our meal. If you haven’t had Eddie Merlot’s before, definitely give it a try while the signature cut and coast menu is available, through May 25th!
