Phantom Theatre: Opening Nightmare Preview
Cincinnati Family Magazine was fortunate enough to get a sneak peak of the new Kings Island ride, Phantom Theatre: Opening Nightmare, which plays homage to the fan favorite ride from yesteryear, The Phantom Theatre. The reimagined family ride includes slightly ghoulish, but very friendly characters like No Legs Larry, The Maestro and his pet cat Archie! The dark ride will showcase animatronic characters, projections, and a super fun storyline, too.
“We’re actually making our guests and our riders interact with the story now, whereas before the old Phantom Theater, you just rode through it and experienced the scenes and what’s going on inside. So now what’s happening is you’re here on the opening night of phantom theater, something goes horribly wrong when lightning strikes. The pipe organ releases ghost notes, and these ghost notes are all over the theater, and you are all ushers helping, No Legs Larry bring the music back!”
-Tony Clark , Kings Island’s Regional Manager of Public Relations
The immersive cue line puts the spotlight on No Legs Larry, The Maestro, and adorably yowling Archie the cat, as they tell the tale of the big opening night going awry when lightning strikes and the ghost notes on the music sheets go missing! Riders then get in their ride buggy, grab their flashlights and go on an adventure to capture the missing ghost notes (and compete with their friends to see who can capture the most notes, of course!!).
Is your family looking forward to restoring music to the Phantom Theatre’s opening night?! Who do you think will hit the target and retrieve the most ghost notes with their flashlight?
