New Freedom Center Leadership Program
The National Underground Railroad Freedom Center is launching a brand new program this year. Be the Conductor is a young change makers leadership experience for 18-25 year olds . The leadership program lasts eight-weeks and aims to promote the study of the past, present, and future of justice-center change in the community, schools and careers.
From freedomcenter.org, the program will attend workshops, benefit from mentorship and hands-on projects which:
• Explore core concepts of social justice including identity, equity, access, and collective responsibility.
• Develop practical leadership tools such as facilitation, problem-solving, public speaking, collaboration, and project design.
• Engage with local leaders, artists, organizers, and educatorswho model what justice-driven leadership looks like in action.
• Create and implement an Impact Project, using your skills to address a real need within your school, neighborhood, or community.
“Young people have great ideas, energy and potential to realize the Freedom Center’s mission of inclusive freedom in our communities and around the world,” said Woodrow Keown, Jr., President and COO of the Freedom Center. “We believe bringing young people into our space and engaging them through learning and development is how we can help them achieve that potential.”
Interested young adults can click here complete an application by January 30th for consideration.
