Create a bucket list of fall activities with the family. Below are some ideas on my list:

S’mores Around a Campfire

My new favorite way to make a s’more is in an ice cream cone. Just put some mini marshmallows and chocolate chips in the cone and (carefully) place it over the fire to melt. I use a pair of tongs. It’s also mess-free!

Drive the Back Roads

This has become a favorite activity for my family and I since the start of COVID-19. We love seeing the beauty of nature and turning up the radio. Take a drive when the leaves start changing color and enjoy the scenery with family!

Rake Some Leaves

Grab the family and some rakes and make a big pile of leaves! See who has the most creative jump into the pile. After the fun, I like to stuff the leaves into decorative pumpkin trash bags and set them out as decoration! (Bonus- a clean yard!)

Head to a Pumpkin Patch

Support a local small business and visit a pumpkin patch. I like to pick the biggest pumpkin I can find in the patch! Be sure check their website first to see what COVID-19 guidelines they are following. Note: some pumpkin patches are having online ticket sales only so know before you go!

Carve Pumpkins

Following a pumpkin patch, have a pumpkin carving contest. Who is the most creative in the family?

Visit an Apple Orchard

Some orchards may be closed due to lack of harvest. Check out local orchards and pick apples with the family. Be cautious of COVID-19 guidelines!

Make Caramel Apples

If apple picking is possible, take the apples home and make caramel apples! Or, pick out some delicious apples at a local farmers market or grocery store.

Go on a Fall Scavenger Hunt

Go on a walk and try to find an acorn, a pinecone, a colorful leaf, a twig, a squirrel, etc. Find free prinatables at etsy.com

Make a “What I Am Thankful for” List

I like to purchase a large pumpkin and write down what my family and I are thankful for each day. It makes a great Thanksgiving decoration as well!

“BOO” a Friend or Neighbor

I go to the Dollar Tree and pick out a bowl, a craft and candy. Once my family and I have assembled the bowl, we pick a neighbor and deliver it. We ring the doorbell and run back to the car so they don’t know it was us! In these challenging times, it’s nice to get a fun surprise!

Family Movie Night

Grab blankets, pillows, pop some popcorn, drink some apple cider and pick out a movie to watch!

My family loves fall. It’s our favorite season – the crisp weather, colorful leaves and fun activities! What activity does your family look forward to the most in the fall? Let us know in the comment below.
